Children can experience many different emotions before, during and after Family Time.
Your child might be excited to see you while also feeling worried, confused or uncertain. Some children may find saying goodbye particularly difficult.

You can support your child by:

* Listening to how they feel.
* Reassuring them that their feelings are okay.
* Allowing them to talk without putting pressure on them. \\Avoiding asking them to choose between adults. \\Keeping adult worries and disagreements away from them. \\Remaining calm if your child becomes upset. \\Following their lead when choosing activities or topics of conversation. \\Giving them reassurance without making promises you cannot guarantee. \\Children sometimes communicate their feelings through their behaviour rather than their words. Staff can help you understand and respond to your child's needs during your sessions.
